London truly offers Christmas as seen in the movies – from exciting markets, thrilling Christmas shows, glittering Christmas lights and more! We’ve put together a handy list of our top things to do over Christmas in magical London town!

1. Attend a Christmas/Holiday Show

There is no shortage of Christmas shows in London. From ballet performances, musicals, traditional pantomimes and plays, there is definitely something for everyone!

A few of our favourites? A Christmas Carol and the Nutcracker.

2. Marvel in the Christmas Décor and Lights

The great thing about London is that you don't need to spend a lot of money to feel the Christmas spirit. Simply take a walk down one of the many colourful streets covered in lights and exquisite décor.

We can never get enough of Oxford or Regent Street at Christmas time!

3. Shop Up a Storm at a Christmas Market

You can't do Christmas in London without visiting at least one Christmas market (or five)! There are quaint and traditional markets for you to leisurely browse through or big and modernised markets offering everything you could ever wish for!

The markets at Leicester Square and Winter Wonderland are not to be missed!

4. Go on a Christmas Themed Tour

What better way to explore London than with a holiday or Christmas inspired tour? There are numerous options available to you. Choose from a bus, walking or bike tour.

You can otherwise choose to get in some exercise and save some cash by going on a FREE walking tour! Just remember to dress warm!

5. Visit the Charles Dickens Museum

No visit to London is complete without a nostalgic tour of the Charles Dickens Museum! From paintings, rare editions and manuscripts – there is so much to see!

6. Ice Skate Up a Storm

There is no shortage of fantastic ice rinks in London. You could even opt to skate at a different one every night of your stay! Most rinks offer a children’s area with mini penguins to assist your little ones on the rink.

A few of our recommended ice rinks would definitely be Somerset House and Natural History Museum.

7. Treat Yourself to Afternoon Tea

With the chilly weather, a full tea service is the ideal way to warm up in London with some delicious treats!

If you're really looking to treat yourself, then 11 Cadogan Gardens and The Gorun come highly recommended!

8. Attend Hogwarts at Christmas

If you're a Potterhead then this NEEDS to be on your list. The Warner Brothers Studio Tour really shines at wintertime! In the weeks leading up to Christmas, the attraction is transformed to include Christmas trees lining the Great Hall. A special cherry on top? The Gryffindor common room gets a festive looking makeover too!

9. Revel in the Gorgeous Christmas Trees

London truly knows how to decorate a Christmas tree! Take a trip to Trafalgar Square to see a massive, exquisitely decorated tree – an annual gift from Norway.

If you prefer something modernised, head to Claridge's where the hotel collaborates with a renowned designer (think Burberry and Lagerfeld) for their lobby tree every year.

10. Meet Santa at the Museum of London
